THE 2010 NANTUCKET MUSIC FESTIVAL
The Nantucket Music Festival (NMF) was created to increase the self esteem of island students by encouraging, inspiring, and enabling their musical creativity, raise funds to facilitate musical programs and proactive programs to address bullying and depression in island students.
The goals will be accomplished through an annual music festival proposed for Children's Beach, with a mix of island student musicians and singers and well-known professional performers.
Proceeds will be distributed to the Family and Children’s Services and theNantucket Arts Council. With available funding, the Nantucket Arts Council will provide musical instruments and instruction to island students, award scholarships to further their studies in music, bring accomplished musicians to the island to perform and conduct workshops in the schools, and fund field trips to Boston and the Cape to attend concerts. Family and Children’s Services funding will be earmarked to create or enhance programs on student self esteem, bullying, and depression.
